Local Country Phone Numbers for Smart Sim:
The default alias phone number for Smart Sim is a Canadian phone number (+1 647). The Canadian number can be substituted with a number of your own country (more than 65 countries available).

Please note that there are monthly and set-up fees associated with the alias phone number.

Making calls
Making calls using Smart Sim is quite easy.
1. Key in the destination number you wish to call. Use the following dialing format:
+[COUNTRY CODE] [CITY CODE][PHONE NUMBER] #
Example: For calling a Toronto number dial +14169481115#.
Note: Do not use international prefix such as 00 or 011.
2. After dialing the destination number your phone will disconnect. Ignore any messages the phone may display during this process (even error messages).
3. After a slight pause you will receive a callback call from the Smart Sim switch. Answer the call normally.
4. Wait a moment to be connected to the destination number.

Receiving calls
Your friends and family can reach you by dialing either your UK phone number or your alias phone number.
Note: There is an additional charge of US$0.46/minute for incoming calls to the Canadian (or your local country) alias phone number assigned to the Smart Sim Card.
Please note the following important information. When calling to your UK number your friends or family will incur long distance or international call charges, but you will not be charged in countries where you have free incoming calls. Vice versa, when your family calls your alias phone number they will not be paying as this call would be a local call, but you will be charged a per minute rate. For current rate table please consult the Rates section.

c. The Alias telephone number is usually a local telephone number of the local telephone exchange. Before the user travels abroad to a country where receiving an incoming call to the Smart Plus SIM is US$0.35/minute or some low affordable rates, he will arrange to forward all calls dialed to his fixed line telephone number and his local mobile number to this Alias. This facility is useful in that it avoids having to require the caller to dial a different number and the call forwarding does not incur any additional per minute cost for calling a +44 UK telephone number It offers a low-cost way of call forwarding to a roaming GSM handset when travelling abroad and you have the added advantage of not having to disclose your whereabouts when receiving your calls and the caller needs only dial your regular telephone numbers and not be put off by the thought of having to dial a +44 UK telephone number and the greater expense.

BukTel will hold a call dialed to the Alias number as it comes into BukTel’s service platform ("Leg 1") without answering the call and then dial out separately to your +44 UK telephone number ("Leg 2"); when you answer the Leg 2 call, BukTel's service platform then answers Leg 1 call and bridge Leg 1 and Leg 2 together to allow conversation to take place.

How does Prepaid Calling Card Operation work?

As a PPCC service provider, operating a VoIP Gateway/Switch, you would arrange to have printed for sale Prepaid Calling Cards of certain designs and of certain face value (please refer to the section on printing of PPCC cards below).

The card has printed on it 2 pieces of essential information: (a) the telephone number the customer is to dial to reach the VoIP gateway/switch and (b) a card number , also known as PIN (Personal Identification Number) that is a unique number that is required by the PPCC service platform for authentication (or validation) as to whether or not the caller (customer) should be permitted to use the service in the first place.

Upon positive authentication, the PPCC service platform then voice-prompts the caller to enter the Destination Number (DN) of the telephone number that he/she wants to reach.

The PPCC service platform calculates the maximum length of time the caller has for the call based on the amount of credit in his/her account and the per minute rate applicable to the DN and then informs the caller of it.

Generally the call flow is as follows:

1. Gateway/switch (GS) answers the call from the user
2. GS plays the greeting prompt
3. GS plays "Please enter your account number"
4. GS collects the digits of the account number dialed by the user
5. GS sends the account number to Ecocarrier Service Platform (ESP)
6. ESP verifies the account number from the GS
7. ESP sends the verification result and account balance to GS
8. GS plays "Your account balance is ..."
9. GS plays "Please enter the destination number followed by pound"
